What does IEA do?

IEA works to advance menstrual health, gender equality, and community empowerment through education, advocacy, and access to menstrual health products. We collaborate with schools, communities, policymakers, and partners to ensure that menstruation does not limit the potential of girls and women.

Where does IEA operate?

IEA primarily operates in Uganda, working across rural and peri-urban districts including Wakiso, Mukono, Lira, and others. Our reach extends through district-level partnerships, school programmes, and community dialogue networks spanning multiple regions.

Why is menstrual health education important?

Menstrual health education reduces stigma, improves school attendance, and empowers girls to manage their periods with dignity. Without adequate knowledge and resources, many girls miss school during menstruation — impacting their education, confidence, and long-term opportunities.

Do you provide menstrual products?

Yes. IEA distributes reusable and disposable menstrual products through our school and community programmes. We also train girls and women on how to use and maintain reusable pads as a sustainable, cost-effective solution.

How can organisations partner with IEA?

Organisations can partner with IEA through programme co-implementation, research collaboration, product donation, or funding support. We welcome NGOs, government bodies, and private sector partners. Reach out via our contact page to begin a conversation about how we can work together.

How can I work with IEA?

IEA regularly recruits staff, field officers, and volunteers. Check our Careers page for open positions. We also welcome internship applications from students in public health, social work, communications, and related fields.

Who are your typical partners?

Our partners include district local governments, the Ministry of Education, international NGOs, UN agencies, community-based organisations, schools, and private sector companies committed to gender equity and health. Each partnership is tailored to the specific programme needs and context.

How can I work with IEA?

Beyond employment, you can support IEA as a volunteer community mobiliser, youth ambassador, or fundraising champion. We have flexible engagement options for individuals who want to contribute their time and skills to advancing menstrual health equity.
