At Irise Institute East Africa, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Program Officer to support the implementation of menstrual health education initiatives across partner districts.
About the Organization
Irise Institute East Africa is a youth-led organisation working to advance menstrual health, gender equality, and leadership opportunities for girls and young women across East Africa. Through community engagement, education programs, and advocacy initiatives, we aim to ensure every girl can manage menstruation with dignity and confidence.
Position Overview
The Program Officer will play a key role in coordinating school-based menstrual health education initiatives, supporting partnerships with district stakeholders, and ensuring effective program delivery.
The role involves program planning, monitoring implementation, and strengthening collaboration with schools, community organizations, and youth leaders.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate menstrual health education activities in partner schools and communities
• Support the development and delivery of training sessions for teachers and peer educators
• Collaborate with district education offices and community partners
• Monitor program implementation and support data collection
• Contribute to program reporting and documentation
• Support advocacy and community engagement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work, or related field
- At least 2–3 years of experience in community-based program implementation
- Experience working with youth or school-based initiatives is an advantage
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong organizational and project management skills
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Knowledge of menstrual health and gender equality issues
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation
- Strong report writing skills
- Ability to work in multicultural and community-based environments
